| More than thousands of Newly IDPS who have fled war in Mogadishu and many of them return back again to Mogadishu are facing such alarming shortages of food, health, water, and inadequate shelter in severely overcrowded camps in many parts of Mogadishu particulary Wadajir District ( Ex-American Embazy) where daily more than 5 families reaching as the head IDP committe told us during our one day free visitation and treatment campaign launch by SOYDA Medical team.
The people is recurrently hit by food deficiency mainly because of the population pressure, erratic nature of rainfall and shortage resulting server dorughts, influx of IDPs from many parts of the other regions. There is also low agricultural productivity, lack of social facilities, poor of transportation roads, prevalence of human and livestock disease, shortage of employment sources, care of internal influx of displacements, food insecurity and stabalization of livelihood mechanism. All these tragedies are applied to those with futunate or unfotunate. Its more frustrating when such are shared with the disadvantages and IDP groups in somalia who have no help and voice to be heared. SOYDA Medical team set up 3 free health centers in Afgoi corridor and Mogadishu for more than 27 health staff are doing free health services, and also SOYDA carried out an additional mobile health services to cover the IDPs who are unable to attend this health centers, in responding to 14-18 January 2011 SOYDA Nutrition survey assesement in Wadajir, and Waberi District, SOYDA has decieded to deliver one days free health services in Wadajir District particulary Ex-American Emabazy IDPs from 4th Febuary 2011 findings are: – � Total screened cases are 307 � Most of the under five old children were suffering Intestinal Parasities, acute Respiratory infections, Anemia and Malnutrition � Based on our observations Health, Shelter and food issues are the biggest problem being exist particularly those newly return from Afgoi corridor � There are cases of Measles tht attend our operational site during one day visitation. � Personal and Enviromental Hygien was poor SOYDA is strategic Planned activities and interventions are properly implemented in a standardized manner. The involvement of SOYDA as a Medical Professionals in the health particulary in the to control and prevention of communicable disease activities has to be clearly defined to ensure proper coordination and standardization of activities. Considering that Somalia is now in the state of complex emergency, and those resources that are available to control health and health related problems are quite limited, it is important that partnership be strengthened to maximize resources, and also SOYDA calls all local health, nutrition actors to be jointly addressed the high demands coming from Mogadishu and Afgoi corridor IDPs. In 2011, SOYDA also will increased the mobile/outreach team to tacle and help the most vulnerable IDPs that can not afford fre health care services, regarding to this the man power resource that SOYDA is planning to utilize this mobile activities are composed of 17 with different qualifications such as 6 Medical Doctors, 5 Nurses, 3 lab technicians and 3 pharmacists, we call also our local partners to inform us where ever they have seen Health need.
