SOYDA Launched today 16 Days of Activism Campaign in Our Project Areas, 25th November 2022

SOYDA Launched today16 Days of Activism for non-violence against Women and children campaign on 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day).  The campaign hopes to raise awareness about gender-based violence as a human rights issue as well as giving special consideration to people on special needs including disable people. Every year, the UNiTE Campaign focuses on a specific theme. This year’s theme is “UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls” and invites everyone to play their role in ending violence against women and girls, show support and solidarity to women’s rights activists and to resist the rollback on women’s rights

At the start of the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the United Nations in Somalia calls for a redoubling of efforts to prevent and address violence against women and girls.

“The ongoing humanitarian crisis and conflict in Somalia have displaced large populations and put women and girls at greater risk of violence, including sexual violence. Gender-based violence and conflict-related sexual violence severely impact on the right to life, livelihoods and dignity of women and girls,” said the Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia, Anita Kiki Gbeho.

Our campaign started all our health facilities in Benadir and Lower Shabelle Region which aims to raise community awareness and mobilize people everywhere to bring about change through targeting Community leaders, Youth Symposium and Women entities to discuss prevention of GBV and the role of youth and women to GBV prevention. It’s time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls.
